The WMATA Better Bus Network will be implemented on June 29, 2025. In Glover Park, the D2 Bus Line will be replaced with two lines: the D96 that runs between Bethesda and Virginia Avenue (on weekdays) and between Bethesda and Foggy Bottom and the C85 that runs between Pinehurst Circle to Foggy Bottom. These bus lines will not loop around Glover Park as the D2 did. Going southboumd, the bus route will run from Tunlaw down 39th, left on Benton to Tunlaw. Going northbound, the bus route will run from Benton to a right on 40th Street, left on Calvert Street, right on 41st Street, left on Edmunds and then a right on 42nd Street to Tunlaw Road. In Wesley Heights and Cathedral Heights, the N2/N4/N6 lines will be replaced by the D90 line. It will run between Jackson-Reed High School and Thomas Circle. The route is from Nebraska Avenue to New Mexico Avenue and then a left on Cathedral Avenue to Massachusetts Avenue and then to 6th Street, looping around at Thomas Circle for the return.

BETTER BUS NETWORK VIRTUAL COMMUNITY BRIEFING ON MONDAY, JUNE 23 FROM 12 PM-1 PM:
Metro is getting ready to launch the Better Bus Network Redesign, which is the first comprehensive redesign of Metro’s bus service in its 52-year history. The new network, which will go into effect on June 29, will better connect people to where they want to go, provide more frequent and consistent bus service, and make our service network easier to understand. We have been briefing elected officials, jurisdictional partners, community based organizations, and our bus customers on the upcoming changes for the past few months. Ahead of Launch Day next week, we are hosting a final virtual briefing on the new network, on Monday, June 23 from 12:00PM-1:00PM, for those who were unable to attend our prior briefings throughout the months of April and May.
In the virtual briefing we will provide:
- An overview of the new network in Maryland, Virginia, and DC,
- Information about our community engagement process, which informed the development of the new network, and
- Critical resources you can share with constituents to assist them in planning their trips.
Please RSVP by confirming your attendance to Reem Rayef, at rrayef@wmata.com by Friday June 20. A Teams invitation will follow. Please feel free to forward the appointment to include colleagues who can best help spread the word and respond to outreach from constituents.
