Richard Pollock arrived in the nation’s capital in 1969 to attend college. He never left.

He is a lifelong journalist and public relations specialist who has recently retired.

Richard aspired to investigative reporting and in 1976 was honored to serve as an investigative reporter for consumer activist Ralph Nader and later served as the director of one of his environmental groups. He was with Nader for six years. His specialty was renewable and nuclear energy.  In the latter role, he was an advisor to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s investigation of the accident at Three Mile Island.  Richard also was asked to serve as an informal script advisor to the anti-nuclear-energy film, “The China Syndrome” and worked closely with producer and actor Michael Douglas.

In the 1980’s he founded his own DC-based PR firm, Richard Pollock Associates. Richard represented many international figures including India’s Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Sweden’s Olaf Palma, and Greece’s Andreas Papandreou, among others.

Richard later joined his passion for news reporting and became the Washington producer for ABC’s “Good Morning America.”  He won an Emmy for his work on GMA and served as its Washington producer for nearly a decade.  At ABC he was the White House and Pentagon producer.  During his tenure, he followed President’s Reagan, Bush and Clinton.  He also was dispatched to war zones as its Pentagon producer and covered the first Gulf War from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, along with other conflicts.

After GMA, he served as the TV director for Ross Perot’s presidential campaign. Richard later joined the London-based global public affairs company, Shandwick Public Affairs. He served as Executive Vice President.

Nearing retirement, he rejoined the news world as an investigative reporter. He served as the senior investigative reporter for the Washington Examiner and the Daily Caller News Foundation.

As a retiree, he volunteers at Children’s Hospital and at Great and Small, a Boyds, Maryland horse farm that provides equestrian training for children with mental disabilities.  For three decades he has led a monthly news discussion group with high performing mentally disabled adults.

After living for 22 years in DC/Chevy Chase, Richard and his wife moved to Glover Park in 2020 where today he serves as the ANC Commissioner.
