Update on ANC 3B Special Election

Charles Fulwood was the winner of the ANC 3B special election held on December 8, 2011.

Information on Mr. Fulwwod can be seen below:

CHARLES CINQUE FULWOOD

Glover Park is a neighborhood with a heartbeat, a small town feel, and a genuine sense of community. After moving here from New York City, I have been delighted to call Glover Park home for more than 12 years.

I started my professional career in community development, working as a public policy and planning specialist for the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners in Florida, and later for the City of Atlanta. Afterwards, I worked in New York as communications director and a part of executive management of Amnesty International USA, Geneva Communications, and the Natural Resources Defense Council, moving to Washington in 1998 to work as communications director for the Children’s Defense Fund. In 2000, I co-founded a communications firm, MediaVision USA LLC, which is based in Glover Park and for the past 5 years I have been a member of the graduate teaching faculty of Johns Hopkins University.

My experience in strategic communications and planning, community development, human rights, and environmental protection has always been anchored to public policy and public awareness.

Glover Park is close to a model neighborhood. Still, I have a deep concern about the proposed cuts in the D1 and D2 bus service. This seems counter-intuitive for a neighborhood that does not have Metro service. Some drivers who come through our neighborhood treat our streets like racetracks where the speed limit and stop signs are optional. I’ve also noticed an increase in almost casual disregard for one-way streets by some drivers. Car vandalism and discarded beer bottles and other litter often appear overnight. Relentless ticketing of residents has reached such a level that allocation of legal parking spaces should be re-visited.

I know there are no easy solutions for complex problems, but I offer my experience and time to work as a part of the ANC team to find practical, sensible solutions to make Glover Park a better and more sustainable place.
