One burglary happened at Point Chaud, the other was an unlocked apartment in the 2700 block of Wisconsin Avenue. Lt Johnson reminded everyone that this is the prime season for “porch pirates” and that there are Amazon lockers at Second District headquarters. He also announced there will be a community walk starting at 3900 Tunlaw Road at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 23rd. That area has experienced an uptick in thefts from autos. A resident asked about enforcement of two-wheeled vehicles and scooters. He responded that there is a citywide initiative to crack down on dangerous driving by these vehicles. A special operations division is aggressively arresting these offenders and confiscating their vehicles. Regular patrol officers also enforce scooter laws but they are not allowed to pursue them.

- 2025 ANC 3B Officers. The officers for the coming year will be Commissioner Turmail (Chair), Commissioner Rodriguez (Vice Chair), Commissioner Lavezzo (Treasurer), Commissioner Lane (Secretary), and Commissioners Howie and Pollock (At-Large).
- Police Report. Lt. Paul Johnson from the Second District MPD reported there were 10 reported crimes compared in the past 30 days to 13 for the same 30-day period last year. This year, crimes included 1 robbery in the 2400 block of Wisconsin, 1 burglary in the 2700 block of Wisconsin, 1 theft from auto, 1 auto theft (car left running in the 4000 block of W Street), and 6 general thefts. The robbery was at the gas station at 2450 Wisconsin at 8 pm on 12/21. MPD has good video of the crime; the investigation is ongoing. Commissioner Pollock asked about the enforcement of the new No Right on Red law. Lt. Johnson confirmed that enforcement will be only at those intersections with “no right on red” signage.
- Discussion of Traffic Calming Measures at 42nd Street, Tunlaw Road and New Mexico Avenue. Commissioner Pollock spoke of his constituents’ concerns regarding the stop signs at the intersection of New Mexico Avenue, Tunlaw Road and 42nd Street. Many motorists do not stop which is especially dangerous going northbound because the driveway for the Colonnade parking lot is at that intersection. He has spoken to Christian Peniero at DDDOT who advised him to file a traffic safety investigation to address the problem. Commissioners Lavezzzo and Lane mentioned that this same intersection .was brought up as a topic of concern by constituents at the December ANC meeting as well. Commissioner Lavezzo said that there is the same problem at the intersection of 39th Street and Tunlaw Road, roughly two blocks south of New Mexico and Tunlaw. Commissioner Pollock will file a traffic safety investigation for the New Mexico Ave/Tunlaw Road intersection and Commissioner Lavezzo will file one for 39th Street and Tunlaw Road.
- Traffic Safety Problem. A constituent who lives at 3850 Tunlaw Road discussed a potentially dangerous situation at the exit of that address (a large multi-unit building). It is difficult for motorists leaving that address to see oncoming traffic because of the bike lanes and parking lane. She believes that some parking spaces need to be eliminated. She was advised to also file a traffic safety investigation with DDOT.
