On May 20, 2013, DDOT officials indicated that construction on this final part of the Wisconsin Ave. streetscape project would begin on May 28th, and be complete by June 25.
DDOT sent the following letter to residents who live in or near the intersection of 37th St. NW and Tunlaw Rd. NW:
Dear Resident:
The District Department of Transportation will start implementing safety enhancements at the
intersection of 37th Street N.W and Tunlaw Road N. W., on or about May 28, 2013.
Construction is expected to be completed by June 25, 2013, weather permitting. Contractor will
work during the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Some Saturday
work may occur, with 72 hours notice to the community.
The work will involve excavation and pouring new concrete base, milling and resurfacing of existing
roadway, installation of new sidewalks and replacement of some existing driveways. The work will
also include upgrading the existing catch basins in the intersection, installing a bio-retention ponds and
installing proper pavement markings and signage.
During construction, bus traffic will be maintained. Northbound 37th Street/Tunlaw Road traffic
will be detoured for an approximate two (2) week period. Detour signs will be posted. Access to
the adjacent houses will also be maintained. However, curbside parking will not be allowed on
location during construction hours.
