MinutesANC 3B Thursday, July 13, 2001 A regular, monthly, public meeting of ANC 3B was called to order at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Guy Mason Recreation Center. Commissioners present and constituting a quorum were Monica Mizerek (02) Chair; Ann Lloyd Breeden (03) Vice Chair;; and James C. Lively (05). Commissioners absent until 7:50 were Toni A. Ritzenberg (04). The (01) seat remains vacant. Police Report No officer was available to give a report. Housekeeping Approval of Minutes A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the minutes of the June 14, 2001 meeting (3-0-0). Monthly Expense Report A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the June 2001 expense report (3-0-0). Report for DC Auditor A motion was made, seconded and passes to approve the April, May, June 2001 Quarterly Report for submission to the DC Auditor (3-0-0) New Business Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) on the Annunciation System for METRO Busses Herb Leonard, Phil Wallace and David Eron from WMATA were joined by Doug Stallsworth, Department of Public Works – Mass Transit Division, John Collins, General Contractor – Clever Devices – manufacturers of the Annunciation System; and Richard Gilbert, Senior Service Supervisor. Mr. Wallace explained that in 1989 the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) required final destination announcement for patrons entering and exiting buses. In 1996, ADA was amended to allow automated announcement systems. In 1997, WMATA contracted with Clever Devices to install Automated Annunciation Systems in all new buses. Mr. Collins explained that the system is designed to shut down on any routes that start after 8:00pm and will not start up until after a route starts after 8:00 am. The system is designed to raise the volume .5 decibels above outside ambient noise. The audience and Commissioners attended a demonstration outside. A on site visit for Glover Park was arranged for July 17th to address specific neighborhood locations. Old Business 42nd Street Update Commissioner Breeden stated that ANC 3B has not received a response from the Department of Public Works on the status the tickets issues along the west side of 42nd Street. ANC 3B Office Space Commissioner Breeden stated that ANC 3B plans to revisit the question of available office space in Guy Mason this fall.
