MinutesANC 3B Thursday, April 12, 2001 The regular monthly public meeting of ANC3B was called to order at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Guy Mason Recreation Center. Commissioners present and constituting a quorum were: Monica Mizerek (02), Chair; Toni A. Ritzenberg (04); and James C. Lively (05). Commissioner Ann Lloyd Breeden (03) was absent. The (01) seat remained vacant. Police Report MPO Lowery, PSA 205, stated that thefts from auto remain the major crime problem in the PSA. Most of the theft from autos occurred in areas that were poorly lit. Due to deployment of police for the World Trade Summit, staffing changes will take place throughout the city. There will actually be an increase in the number of officers on the street and no problems are expected in responding to calls for service. Housekeeping Approval of Minutes Minutes of the March 8, 2001. A motion to approve was made, seconded and passed (3-0-0). Monthly Expense Report Expense report for March 2001. A motion to approve was made, seconded and passed (3-0-0). 1st Quarter 2001 report for DC Auditor A motion to approve was made, seconded and passed (3-0-0). Old Business 42nd Street Parking Issue Update Christopher Lively stated that the ANC is still waiting on the Department of Public Works (DPW) to submit the parking and traffic study that was completed on February 20, 2001. Larry Brown from DPW Parking Services had informed ANC 3B by telephone that the report would be delayed until the middle of April 2001. No new information has been received on the status of ANC 3B's request that all tickets that were issued in April 2000 along the wooded section of 42nd street be rescinded. ANC 3B01 Single Member District (SMD) Opening Commissioner Ritzenberg stated that an opening still exists for SMD 3B01. She advised that if anyone were interested or knew of anyone interested in filling the vacant SMD position should contact her for more information. ANC 3B Office Space Update Christopher Lively stated that he had met with Bob Haldeman, Guy Mason Recreation Center Director, as to the availability of having ANC office the center. Mr. Haldeman will discuss this with Sondra Ratliff, his supervisor. Milt Grossman, Chair, Friends of Guy Mason, objected to moving the ANC 3B office into the center due to a lack of space. Mr. Lively stated that space would not be a problem if the existing storage spaces were properly utilized. New Business Stop Sign Installation ANC 3B's request for the installation of 4-way stop signs at Benton and 40th Street and W and 39th Street were approved by DPW and published in the DC Register. A new stop sign for W and 38th and one for W and 39th were also approved and published in the register. All should be installed by the end of April 2001. Report on Census 2000 Information Census numbers have been released and Ward Three needs to lose approximately 8,000 residents to bring it in to line with the mandated equal population per ward. A public meeting will be held on April 17, 2001, all are encouraged to attend. Commissioner Ritzenberg left to join Commissioner Breeden at a redistricting meeting New Construction on 37th Street at Tunlaw Road Discussion was tabled until the May 10, 2001 meeting, as the developer was unable to attend.
