- Officers were elected for the new 2023-24 term: Jackie Blumenthal, Chair; Kevin Carroll, Vice Chair; Ben Bergmann, Treasurer; Melissa Lane, Secretary; Kevin Lavezzo, Communications; Gupi Howie, At Large.
- Lt Paul Johnson reported 12 recorded property crimes and no violent crimes last month. He discussed the increase in crime especially vandalism both in the commercial and residential area including two vehicle smash and grabs, robberies and smashed windows and at least one prowler. He emphasized that these crimes need to be reported immediately and if possible, to include any images captured. He also introduced the new captain to the Second District. Captain Tatjana Savoy leads Sector 2 for PSA 204 which includes Glover Park and Cathedral Heights (Tatjana.savoy@dc.gov 202 740 4701). Finally, if residents have questions about incidents in the area, the contact number for the Second District watch commander is 202 438 4421. Lt. Johnson also offered to set up a meeting between MPD and businesses, organized by Glover Park Main Street, and a walk through with ANC and residents regarding dark spots and other concerns of residents.
- The Commissioners passed a resolution to accept the amended settlement agreement with Good Guys and lift its protest against renewing Good Guys liquor license. The changes include increased security measures and procedures to limit late night disruptions in the neighborhood.
- The Commissioners for the new term each introduced themselves and described the boundaries of their Single Member Districts.
- Christmas tree disposal will occur between January 3 and March 3. Trees should be placed in front of homes in the tree box area and should be picked up within 5 days. There is a drop-off at Guy Mason Rec Center. Call 311 or go to 311.dc.gov if pickup doesn’t happen.
- Theo Wren and Matthew Barclay introduced themselves. They are the Ward 3 contacts from the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCR). They are our contacts for problems not solvable through 311 (Theodore.wren@dc.gov and Matthew.barclay@dc.gov).

- Lt. Johnson reported 12 property crimes and no violent crimes for the past 30 days. He also reported that on December 1, someone threw a device over the back wall of the Russian Embassy along Tunlaw Road. The bomb squad and special investigations units were deployed and a suspect arrested. No reports of injury or damage were reported.
- Pleasance Silicki, the new Iona Community Outreach Coordinator provided information on Iona’s activities for seniors, caregivers, families, and others. She also reported that Iona now has two adult day centers, one in Ward 3 and one in Congress Heights in Ward 8.
- The Commission passed a resolution introduced by Commissioner Turmail that focused on a proposal from newly elected Ward 3 Board of Education Member Eric Goulet calling for DC to consider acquisition of the former Whittle School campus at Van Ness and Connecticut as a possible site for additional space for DC schools.
