DDOT Proposes Parking Changes for the 1900 and 2000 Block of 37th St.

Do you live in the 1900 or 2000 block of 37th St.?  If so, we seek your input.

ANC 3B has received a notice from DDOT that the Department, consistent with DC parking policy on streets bordering parking zones, is seeking to change the signage in the 1900 and 2000 block of 37th St. NW.

DC policy is that streets that border two wards should be dually signed to allow Residential Parking Permit (RPP) parking for individuals with permits from each ward.

Presently, the 1900 block of 37th St. NW is zoned for Ward 2 RPP parking, and the 2000 block is zoned for Ward 3 only. DDOT intends to change the signs in these two blocks to allow RPP parking for those with either Zone 2 or Zone 3 stickers in either block.

We believe this is a positive development, allowing Ward 3 residents who live in or near the 2000 block of 37th St. to park legally in spots within a block of their homes, even if these spots are in Ward 2, in the 1900 block of 37th St. However, we want to hear from residents of this block to make sure they agree.

ANC 3B seeks public comment on this proposed change prior to our April 12, 2012 meeting. Please provide comment to info@anc3b.org, and include your name and address.
