Construction on the 37th and Tunlaw Intersection to Begin Soon; Expect Traffic Disruptions

DDOT has informed ANC 3B that they are expected to begin begin work  on the newly reconfigured intersection at 37th and Tunlaw in mid-April, with construction expected to last for four weeks.  In an effort to calm traffic and make drivers and pedestrians safer, the work will change the current criss-cross intersection into two separate T-shaped intersections.  For more on this project, click here.

Of note, this work will cause a major disruption to northbound traffic for approximately two weeks.  During this two week period, northbound 37th St. will be closed to through traffic, with traffic detoured to Wisconsin Ave.  ANC 3B is working with DDOT and WMATA to minimize problems, but when this detour goes into effect, we can expect major disruptions of buses and other traffic on 37th St., Wisconsin Ave., and side streets.  Hopefully, the two weeks will go by quickly.  DDOT is working with WMATA to allow D1 and D2 buses to continue northbound on 37th St. to avoid this detour.
